Pain Management


When medicall things go wrong you hope against hope that there’s something that can be done to fix whatever medical problem you have. There are a few medical conditions that mean constant pain but they can be managed. If you have something wrong with your body, surgery might be able fix it, but not always. If you are in an accident the surgeons will do their best but some things aren’t always fixable. Pain management is what many face when surgery and therapy can’t fix the problem.

Some people will suffer in silence when they’re in pain. At times, doctors may tell them that there’s nothing they can do and that they just have to deal with the pain. This isn’t always true. There are many people that fake injuries and pain because they want drugs so you have to push doctors for pain management so they know you are really hurt. If you take some token drugs and then just try to deal with it that’s all that you’re going to get. You have to push for pain management or you are going to suffer. Don’t be bullied, ask for what you need as often as you have to so you can get the pain results you want.

Some conditions, like back pain, are fixable with surgery, but it could take a while to get into see someone that can help you. Even then, it can take longer to get the appointment for your surgery. In the meantime you could be in a lot of pain. If the medications they’ve given you aren’t working for pain management, talk with your doctor, every single day if you have to, until something else is worked out. At times, there are medications that will work better or differently. Your doctor won’t know what they’ve given you for pain management isn’t working unless you say so.

There are medications that they can give in the hospital for pain management that work well, but you can’t get them at home. Some are given by IV and some are shots. These aren’t things that anyone can get to take home, even with a prescription. That’s when pain treatment gets a bit more complicated but it doesn’t mean you have to live without the relief that you need. There are pain management clinics in many areas, some are in hospitals and you can go to these by direction of your doctor to get the meds you need when you can’t take care of them on your own.


Remember that your pain management is in your hands. Your doctors cann’t guess as they can only do what they think will work. It’s up to you to say that you need more, need less, or need something else because the side effects are too much for you. If you’re in a position of having to rely on pain management for the rest of your life, you have to fight for the treatment that you need that’s going to fit in your lifestyle. Your insurance may fight you on some things, but fight back for the best results. Your quality of life depends on how you respond.

Pain management is your responsibility but always remember, no matter what the Doctor says, there is something that will help your pain or relieve it. Keep pushing until you get something you can live with and still have a good life.
